Beyond the faces of protest: Aishe Ghosh on student politics and dissent

In this interview, Aishe Ghosh, former JNU Students' Union president and SFI leader, discusses Jantar Mantar 2.0, the emergence of individual faces in the protest, the question of Left unity and the role of media optics in shaping public perception. The conversation also turns to Umar Khalid, whose prolonged incarceration remains a significant concern for student politics and dissent in India. How does his case shape the risks faced by a new generation of student activists? With INDIA bloc leaders entering the protest space, Ghosh reflects on the relationship between student movements and mainstream opposition politics, the scope for coordination across organisations, and the challenge of preserving a movement's autonomy. And beyond Jantar Mantar 2.0, what comes next? #AisheGhosh #JantarMantar #SFI #UmarKhalid ▶For the latest news and analysis - https://thefederal.com/  ▶RSS Feed - https://thefederal.com/google_feeds.xml ▶For more explainers, and interesting videos - https://thefederal.com/category/videos ▶To watch The Federal's shows listed together for your easy access, click here:    • The Federal Programmes   Follow The Federal News here - ▶Website: https://thefederal.com/ ▶Facebook:   / thefederal.india   ▶X: https://x.com/TheFederal_News ▶Instagram:   / thefederal_india   ▶LinkedIn:   / thefederal   ▶Whatsapp channel: https://www.whatsapp.com/channel/0029... ▶Threads: TheFederal India (@thefederal_india) ▶Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3fy3utP... #TheFederal #India #BreakingNews #LatestNews #News #Delhi #Mumbai #Parliament #NarendraModi #RahulGandhi #Politics #Business #Economy Download The Federal App here - ▶Android - http://bit.ly/3DJSkiu ▶iPhone - http://bit.ly/TheFederalios
