The English translation by W. R. Lawrence reflects on Mary’s calling to become the Mother of God, her faithful acceptance of God’s plan and her continuing care for God’s people. Its recurring “Ave Maria” recalls the angel Gabriel’s greeting to Mary and makes the hymn especially suitable for celebrations of the Annunciation, the Assumption, the Immaculate Conception and Mary, the Holy Mother of God. It may also accompany May Crownings, Rosary gatherings, school worship and other Marian devotions throughout the year. 💬 Join the conversation Has Holy Virgin by God's Decree accompanied a special celebration, school assembly or time of prayer in your life?
