안녕하세요. 히든 서울입니다. 오늘은 신길역 뒤편에 남아 있는 오래된 신길동 골목을 걷습니다. 신길동은 서울 서남부의 오래된 주거지역 가운데 하나입니다. 오랫동안 학교와 시장, 작은 상점과 저층 주택들이 함께 자리하며 평범한 서울 사람들의 생활공간으로 이어져 왔습니다. 주변에는 새로운 아파트와 큰 도로가 들어서며 도시의 모습이 빠르게 변했지만, 일부 지역에는 아직 오래된 주택과 좁은 골목, 낮은 담장과 작은 상점들이 남아 있습니다. 대규모 개발이 먼저 진행된 주변 지역과 달리 정비가 늦게 이루어진 곳들이 남아 있었기 때문에, 지금도 과거 서울의 주거 풍경을 곳곳에서 만날 수 있습니다. 골목 안으로 들어갈수록 큰길에서는 쉽게 볼 수 없는 오래된 집과 대문, 세월의 흔적이 남은 벽과 간판들이 이어집니다. 새로운 서울과 오래된 서울이 가까운 거리에서 함께 존재하는 곳. 오늘은 신길동 골목을 걸으며 빠르게 사라지고 있는 오래전 서울의 모습을 기록합니다. 오늘도 서울의 기억을 모아갑니다. Hello, this is Hidden Seoul. Today, we walk through Singil-dong, an old residential neighborhood in Yeongdeungpo-gu, western Seoul. Located not far from Singil Station, this area has long been a place where ordinary Seoul residents lived their everyday lives, surrounded by schools, small local shops, low-rise houses, and narrow residential alleys. Much of the surrounding area has changed in recent years. New apartment complexes and wider roads have transformed large parts of Singil-dong and nearby neighborhoods. But some older sections developed more slowly and remained outside the major redevelopment that changed much of the surrounding area. Because of this, old houses, narrow alleys, weathered walls, small neighborhood shops, and traces of everyday life from decades ago can still be found here. This is not a preserved historic village or a tourist destination. It is simply an ordinary Seoul neighborhood where fragments of the city’s past still remain within everyday life. Walking deeper into the alleys, the modern city begins to fade, revealing a quieter and more familiar Seoul that once existed across many neighborhoods. Today, we walk through Singil-dong and record a side of old Seoul that is slowly disappearing.
