안녕하세요, 히든서울입니다. 오늘은 신촌에서 출발해 대신동과 봉원동의 오래된 골목을 지나 봉원사까지 걸어봅니다. 산책은 지하철 2호선 신촌역에서 시작합니다. 사람과 상점이 많은 신촌 거리를 지나 연세대학교 방향으로 걷다 보면, 익숙한 대학가의 풍경이 이어집니다. 하지만 세브란스병원 뒤편으로 들어서면서 거리의 분위기는 조금씩 달라집니다. 높은 건물과 붐비는 거리에서 벗어나면 낮은 주택과 좁은 골목, 오래된 집과 작은 가게들이 남아 있는 대신동과 봉원동의 조용한 주거지가 나타납니다. 서울 중심부의 유명한 대학가와 병원 바로 뒤편이지만, 골목 안쪽에는 오랜 시간 사람들이 살아온 흔적과 옛 동네의 풍경이 곳곳에 남아 있습니다. 언덕을 따라 이어지는 골목을 천천히 걷다 보면 도시의 소음은 점점 멀어지고, 오래된 집들과 일상의 작은 풍경 사이로 조금씩 산길과 사찰의 분위기가 가까워집니다. 그리고 오늘의 산책은 천년이 넘는 역사를 간직한 봉원사에서 끝납니다. 분주한 신촌에서 시작해 오래된 주거 골목을 지나 조용한 산사까지. 짧은 거리 안에서 전혀 다른 서울의 풍경이 이어지는 대신동과 봉원동을 천천히 기록해봅니다. 오늘도 서울의 기억을 모아갑니다. Hello, this is Hidden Seoul. Today, we begin our walk in Sinchon, one of Seoul’s well-known university districts, and slowly make our way through the old residential neighborhoods of Daesin-dong and Bongwon-dong. The walk starts near Sinchon Station on Subway Line 2. At first, the streets are filled with students, shops, restaurants, and the busy atmosphere surrounding Yonsei University. But as we continue past the university and move behind Severance Hospital, the scenery gradually begins to change. The crowded commercial streets give way to quieter residential areas, where low-rise houses, narrow alleys, small neighborhood shops, and traces of older Seoul still remain. Although this area is located close to one of Seoul’s busiest university districts, the streets here feel surprisingly calm. As we walk deeper into Daesin-dong and Bongwon-dong, old houses stand beside newer buildings, while small details of everyday life reveal how this neighborhood has changed over time. The road gradually begins to climb, and the atmosphere becomes quieter as the city gives way to the slopes of Ansan Mountain. At the end of our walk, we arrive at Bongwonsa Temple. Bongwonsa traces its origins back to 889 during the Silla period. The temple was originally established near what is now Yonsei University and was later moved to its present location in 1748. Today, it remains a historic Buddhist temple with more than a thousand years of tradition. From the busy streets of Sinchon, through quiet old neighborhoods, to a centuries-old Buddhist temple hidden on the hillside, this short walk reveals several very different sides of Seoul. Today, we quietly walk through Daesin-dong and Bongwon-dong and record the everyday landscapes and memories that still remain.
