Planning to launch or expand your startup in Europe? Discover Germany's startup ecosystem: 1,500+ support organizations and free assistance from Germany Trade & Invest. Germany has quietly built one of the world's densest startup support networks - and international founders can access all of it. In this video, we tour the German startup ecosystem, from the institutions that just swept the Financial Times ranking of Europe's leading startup hubs to the newest national programs backing science spin-offs. In 2025, Germany's Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy designated ten institutions as Startup Factories - excellence hubs built to turn cutting-edge research into market-ready deep tech companies. Each factory is eligible for 10 million euros in support, with half of the funding coming from private sources. One of them is the BRYCK Startup Alliance in Essen, which helps international founders enter the European market through Germany's industrial heartland in the Ruhr Valley. Then there are the 25 de:hubs - at least one in each of Germany's 16 regional states - which network high-tech startups with research institutions and major corporates. A prime example: the collaboration between IO-Dynamics and Voigt Logistik, which grew from a pitch night into a joint company built around intelligent energy management for electric truck fleets. And there's Munich's UnternehmerTUM, ranked Europe's number one startup hub by the Financial Times in 2026 - not for the first time. Its ecosystem is now home to the TUM RoboGym (powered by NEURA), Europe's largest training center for physical AI, where a fleet of humanoid robots will train under real-world conditions from mid-2026. What makes the German startup ecosystem truly unique is not just Berlin or Munich. It's also the hidden champions in between - world market leaders in automotive, engineering, and chemicals who can become clients and co-builders for innovative founders.
