Bézout's Identity and its Reach

We review the proof of Bézout's identity which states that the greatest common divisor is the smallest linear combination one can make out of two integers. We also remind ourselves of the fact that the identity is the valid for principal ideal domains and reaches far beyond the ring of integers.
