The Planet Crafter has a problem it never explains out loud: I need insects to unlock insects. The beehive wants a bee larva 🐝, the new butterfly dome wants a butterfly larva 🦋, and after 30-something episodes terraforming this planet, I still haven't seen a single bug crawl across the ground. This episode is my attempt to close that loop, and it does not go well. I spend the first stretch chasing a mutagen recipe that quietly refuses to work because the ingredients aren't all inside the crafting machine's pickup radius, then lose track of a golden seed, a batch of zeolyte, and half my tree spreader materials somewhere inside my own storage lockers. In the middle of the chaos, Riley messages me with a deep scan reading strange geological signatures near my base and a set of coordinates I scramble to write down before I lose them. I fire up a new T2 tree spreader, push my oxygen output higher by stacking optimizers instead of building more machines, and finally gamble a golden seed in the tree seed sequencer 🌱, which pays off with a much stronger tree than before. I also take a long break to go through your comments about bacteria samples, super alloy meteor storms, the autocrafter's storage range, and the difference between the tree seed sequencer and the DNA manipulator. By the time my insect progress crosses 20%, I head out to the small trees near base looking for the planet's first bug, and I come back empty-handed. The insects still don't exist yet.
