Have you been learning English for months or even years, but you still feel like you're not making the progress you want? Maybe you sometimes feel like you're improving, and then suddenly you're back to struggling again. It might not be that you can't learn English. It might be the habits you're practicing. I once read a powerful statement: “First we make our habits, then our habits make us.” In this video, I'm sharing 4 common habits that may be keeping you from becoming fluent in English. 🗣️ 1. Listening Only You listen to English videos, movies, podcasts, and conversations—but you rarely open your mouth and speak. You might even feel like you can speak English perfectly in your head, but the moment you start speaking, everything becomes chaotic. That's because listening alone isn't enough. Listen, then speak. Listen, then speak. Keep practicing what you hear out loud. 📚 2. Learning Isolated Vocabulary Learning individual words without learning how they're actually used in sentences can make it difficult to use those words naturally. Don't just learn a word. Learn it in context. 📖 3. Overemphasizing Grammar Rules Some learners want to master every grammar rule before they start speaking because they're afraid of making mistakes. But you don't need perfect grammar before you open your mouth. Make mistakes. Speak. Learn. Correct yourself. Keep going. ⏰ 4. Practicing Only Once in a While Practicing English once every few weeks and expecting fluency won't give you the results you want. You don't necessarily need hours every day. Even 5 minutes of intentional practice every day can be more valuable than studying for several hours once in a while. The goal is consistency. So if you want to become more fluent in English, start paying attention to your habits. Your habits are either taking you closer to fluency or keeping you away from it.
