2026-07-25 RAGBRAI 2026 day 7 pt 5 - Centralia, Goat Snuggling, Downhill

Centralia was only a little over 13 miles from Dubuque, and it was the last pass-through town, so I was hoping for a memorable stop. However, it was still very dreary out. Fortunately, right before town we saw baby goats for snuggling. Had to stop for that. After that we proceeded into town. They had a flag on a firetruck ladder which is always cool (5:45), and folks from town were encouraging and welcoming. Important for us, we were able to stop at a bike repair shop to fix an issue with a rear view mirror. I also had to fix an issue with the GoPro on the way out of town. Shortly after leaving Centralia we had the last big downhill prior to Dubuque on Old Highway Road near Julien, Iowa.
