The incident took place on Sunday evening in the JJ Colony of Palam-Dwarka Sector 7. According to police, Sonia and Pradeep had been married for around eight years and had two sons. Pradeep runs a vegetarian biryani shop along with his work as a dhol player. According to the preliminary police investigation, Pradeep allegedly had an affair with another woman, which Sonia opposed. The alleged relationship had reportedly led to frequent arguments between the couple. On Sunday, the dispute escalated, and Pradeep allegedly attacked Sonia with a knife, stabbing her in the chest. Sonia succumbed to her injuries, while the accused allegedly fled after the incident. Police have registered a case of murder and launched a search for Pradeep. Evidence has been collected from the crime scene, while CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined to trace the accused. The incident has once again brought the issue of domestic violence and women’s safety into focus. The case also highlights how disputes involving suspicion, alleged extra-marital relationships and prolonged marital conflict can escalate into serious violence.
