EVERY SINGLE Chaos Space Marine Legion Explained! | Warhammer 40K The Black Legion is the largest and most dominant of the Traitor Legions, the inheritors of the Sons of Horus rebuilt under Abaddon the Despoiler as the supreme unifying force of Chaos, committed across ten thousand years to finishing the war that Horus began and lost. After Horus fell at the siege of Terra, the XVI Legion fractured into grief and self-destruction, calling themselves the Sons of Horus and treating that name like a wound they refused to close. Ezekyle Abaddon, former First Captain of the XVI Legion, ended that collapse by renaming them, reforging them under a black banner, and declaring a purpose larger than mourning a dead Primarch: total domination in the name of Chaos Undivided rather than devotion to any single god.
