Mishima is just about an hour from Tokyo Station by Shinkansen, making it an easy day trip from the city. Just a short walk from Mishima Station, stepping stones lead through a clear stream fed by spring water from Mt. Fuji. I spent a peaceful day in Mishima, where clear streams are part of everyday life—stopping for dango recommended by a local, visiting Mishima Taisha Shrine, and trying taiyaki filled with savory grilled eel. Then I cycled to Kakita River Park to watch the spring water bubbling up from below and admire its beautiful cobalt blue.
