Julius Caesar Told His Kidnappers to RAISE His Ransom...

Around 75 BC, pirates kidnapped a young Roman aristocrat and asked for twenty talents of silver. He laughed at them and told them to ask for fifty. That was Julius Caesar: a man who spent most of his life spectacularly in debt, bribed his way to the top, conquered Gaul, crossed a river he never mentioned in his own book, met Cleopatra (not in a carpet), gave Rome a 445-day year... and was killed on the day Roman debts fell due. This is the story of Julius Caesar. Relaxed narration, calm music, ideal for history before bed.
