Exploring Loch Awe by Canoe - Wild Camping in Scotland

Join me for another adventure on the stunning Loch Awe! In this episode, I’m putting my canoe to the test with a bit of a "mad idea" I’ve had for years—sailing. Despite the unpredictable Scottish weather, including some serious wind and rain, I head out to see if I can harness the breeze to get across the lake. Expect a bit of everything in this one: Canoe Sailing: Testing out a sail on the canoe and dealing with some "mental" wind. Fishing: Trying some trolling and spinning, even if the local mayflies were more popular with the fish than my lures! Van-Life Comforts: Retreating to the van to dry off, fire up the diesel heater, and cook a nutritious liver and bacon casserole. Gear Review: A shout-out to the rugged British Army surplus Gortex that kept me "dry as a bone" through the downpours. It turned out to be one of the best days of 2026 so far.
