The Teesside 500 Group Day Trip from Stockton to SYYT Open Day and return journey home back to Stockton, just in time to watch the World Cup Football Final #bus
A few of my highlights recorded and shared with you all from my open day attendance July 19th 2026.
RDC106R – Bristol VRT Northern Counties bought new by Cleveland Transit in 1977 as their H106, passed to Jones Llanfaethlu of Wales in September of 1990 after withdrawl by Cleveland Transit, it ran for Jones as a school bus for a number of years before it was withdrawn in in 2004. We purchased the vehicle in May of 2005 and hauled it back home to Teesside, where a long restoration job began.
After a substantial engine overhaul between April 2023 and July 2024, she received further attention over the Winter of 2024/2025 before being presented again in her immaculately restored condition. She exhibited a very much rejuvenated performance during the 2025 season including “mile-eating” outings to Kirkby Stephen, Leeds, Sandtoft and Rotherham.
Just recently in 2026 its had a steering box overhaul at an eye watering five thousand pound repair bill, that's a lot of 50p photos to sell 10,000 to be exact just to keep her roadworthy.
On Sunday she never missed a beat, even Alex the driver on the return stint home, it was the first time he drove a bus with this type of gearbox / change and he did a fine job, I couldn't fault his style or respect for the engine and box as he climbed up many a steep hill and chugged up the A1M motorway at average max speed of 44mph stopping at the services for fuel on route home and still got home early to see the kick off of the World Cup Final.
