Facing the Judge] [Verse 1] The mind is no longer a shelter tonight A labyrinth of glass that bends all the light A hollow echo beneath my skin The mirror stands empty where I should have been Since days of my youth buried under the stone A choir of whispers I've always known They have no faces but speak in my voice They grow from the roots I never could choose [Pre-Chorus] A fortress of silence so cold from the start A deafening noise from deep in my heart I closed all the doors to keep pain outside Just trapped in the shadows with nowhere to hide Then came the afternoon with torrential rain The sky traced its scars on the window pane [Chorus] Stop running now and face yourself You've carried these ghosts and called them someone else Can you feel the breaking light of day A steady voice that clears the way It breaks old walls that stood for years It cuts through shame and dries the tears Look straight at the face you've learned to fear And find the strength to see it clear [Verse 2] Close your eyes and breathe so deep No longer flee the dreams you keep The sharpened light of a focused will Reveals the shadows standing still You finally see those voices that scream Were only a child inside the dream A frightened girl who needed a place Still hiding behind an angry face [Bridge] With this new anchor piece by piece You move ahead and find release You turned and faced that darkened judge Refused once more to bear his grudge Enough of this, you're only shade A story from a wound long made Your power is gone, I see what you are A shadow still reaching from old scars I am no victim, I owe you no more The lock is broken, I open the door [Chorus] Stop running now and face yourself You've carried these ghosts and called them someone else Can you feel the breaking light of day A steady voice that clears the way It breaks old walls that stood for years It cuts through shame and dries the tears Look straight at the face you've learned to fear And find the strength to see it clear [Outro] In the silence after this a warming hand you find The reflection meets your gaze and does not turn aside Not weak, not lost, you've carried all these years A soul rebuilt from rubble, grief and tears The storm has finally settled on the ground No distant cries, no raging to be found In the vast space of your spirit there is peace at last Only one voice remains untouched by the past And that voice is your own
