Welcome to the Wings of Nandhaur — a journey deep into the Himalayan foothills, where every turn of the forest trail reveals another story. In this second safari through Nandhaur Wildlife Sanctuary, I set out with one focus — to explore the incredible birdlife of this beautiful Himalayan forest. From the lifeline of the Nandhaur River to the dense Sal forests, river beds and forest trails, this safari takes us deep into a world where birds are everywhere and wildlife often reveals itself through the smallest signs. Along the way, I encounter an incredible variety of birds including Great Hornbill, Lesser Fish Eagle, Rufous-bellied Eagle, Mountain Hawk-Eagle, Shikra, Brown Fish Owl, Crested Serpent Eagle, Black-rumped Flameback, Indian Roller, Common Hawk-Cuckoo, White Wagtail, Oriental Honey Buzzard, Lineated Barbet and many more. But Nandhaur has much more than birds. During this safari, we encounter tiger pug marks, sloth bear pug marks, barking deer alarm calls, wild boars and deer, while exploring some of the most beautiful and lesser-known parts of the sanctuary. And perhaps that's what makes a jungle safari so special — you never really know what the forest is going to reveal next. Nandhaur Wildlife Sanctuary lies in the Himalayan foothills of Uttarakhand and is part of the Terai landscape, with the Nandhaur River flowing through this remarkable wilderness. This is not just a search for animals.
