Father Ephram Alhaj reflects on Christ’s words: “This kind does not come out except by prayer and fasting.” Prayer and fasting are not separate practices, but one path of turning toward God, cleansing the heart through repentance, and receiving His blessing and the fullness of the Holy Spirit. The sermon reminds us that the Church is called to bring healing and hope to a suffering world. Yet this begins with each of us: looking to Christ as Peter did, acknowledging our weak faith, fighting the passions, and allowing God to dwell within us. The way of Christ is the way of the Cross, but it leads not to death alone, but to the Resurrection.
