Stop Learning Vocabulary Lists — Do This Instead

You've written vocabulary lists. Twenty words, neat columns — and a week later you remember four of them. But you remember exactly what you wanted to say the day you couldn't say it. 💛 There's a reason for that, and it comes from two very different places: a book about language learning, and a neuroscientist at Stanford. Put them together and you get the simplest rule on this whole channel — you remember what you felt, and what was about you. Which is exactly what a journal is. This video is for English learners who study hard and forget everything anyway — and for teachers looking for a better way to explain why vocabulary lists don't stick. 📌 THE JOURNAL METHOD — screenshot this 1. Write a few lines about your actual day, in English. Be basic. "Today I woke up late. I was tired. The weather is horrible again." 2. When a word is missing, don't look it up. Write it in your own language, in brackets, and keep going. "I felt really ( … ) today." 3. At the end, look up the two or three words you marked. Write them at the bottom. 4. Tomorrow, use them. After a month your journal is a vocabulary list where every single word came from your own life. Nobody chose them for you — that's exactly why they stay. ✍️ DON'T KNOW WHAT TO WRITE ABOUT?
