Something Stronger

This song is dedicated to my oldest son. He took on far too much, too early in life. He always carried the world on his shoulders. He was angry at our situation, and equally frustrated that he couldn't change it. That anger got directed into his music, ROTC and lacrosse. He couldn't understand my choices, because children don't always see behind the scenes. He left home at 19, and soon found himself in the same situation he was mad me for putting up with. He was in a toxic relationship with an extremely narcissistic young woman. After leaving her, he was afraid to trust himself. He soon met another young woman who allowed him to see his hurt and correct it. We were so close most of his life, but he began to put distance between us, which I understand. Sometimes distance is necessary to heal. He has walked through fire to become the man he is, and my pride in, and love for, him only grows each day. One day, the phone will ring, and my heart will heal again. I love you, kiddo.
