The Repairer of the Breach (Isaiah 58:10-12 KJV)

Isaiah 58 moves from the true fast to restoration. “And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul…” Then comes the promise: “Then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday.” The LORD guides continually. He satisfies the soul in drought. He makes His people “like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.” And then comes rebuilding. “They that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places…” “The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.” The chapter began with a trumpet sounding against transgression. It moves through fasting, afflicting the soul, mercy, deliverance, light, healing, and restoration.
