How Narcissists React After Prolonged No Contact With Their Victim | Dr. Ramani
What may happen after a long period of no contact with someone who has strong narcissistic traits? Inspired by the educational work of Dr. Ramani Durvasula, this video explores the psychological patterns and behavioral responses that sometimes emerge when a person no longer has access to the attention, emotional reactions, or control they previously relied upon.
We examine narcissistic injury, loss of narcissistic supply, hoovering, gaslighting, projection, blame shifting, emotional manipulation, validation seeking, smear campaigns, guilt-tripping, boundary testing, and emotional control. Some individuals may attempt to re-establish contact, act unusually kind, spread false narratives, seek attention from new relationships, or appear completely unaffected. Others may respond very differently depending on their personality and circumstances. These reactions vary widely and are not universal.
The title refers to "their victim," but people who have experienced emotional abuse are not defined by their past experiences. Likewise, no one can know another person's private thoughts or emotions with certainty, and there is no single reaction that every person with narcissistic traits has after prolonged no contact.
The most important result of no contact is not how they respond—it's how you recover. By maintaining healthy boundaries, emotional independence, self-respect, and self-awareness, you reduce the impact of manipulation, protect your peace, and create healthier relationships built on honesty, empathy, accountability, and mutual respect.
