Title: [Generative AI Insights Conference 2024] A Scoping Review of University Policies on Generative AI in Asia: Promising Practices, Gaps, and Future Directions
Date: 2024-01-10
Speaker:
Prof DAI Yun, Assistant Professor, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Venue: YIA LT2 @ CUHK
Advancements in GenAI technologies offer both opportunities and challenges for higher education, and many universities are developing policies to guide the integration of GenAI tools in their academic community. Focusing on Asian universities, I will present a scoping review of policy development regarding the integrations of GenAI. This study examined the GenAI policies of 30 universities from the QS top 60 Asian universities with mixed methods. This scoping review provides insights into the varied approaches of Asian universities, laying the groundwork for global discussions about the role of GenAI in higher education.
About the Speaker
Prof. Yun DAI is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, holding a PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and prior postdoctoral experience at the University of Southern California. Her research investigates the intersection of emerging technologies and the learning sciences, focusing extensively on AI literacy and ethics, learner agency in AI-mediated environments, and curriculum innovation. In early 2024, as generative AI rapidly reshapes educational paradigms, her work actively guides educators and students to harness AI as an epistemic partner while fostering critical inquiry and responsible, ethical engagement.
