After all: When everyone knows something, there’s no reason to suspect that someone might not know, and thus no reason to communicate those intrinsic expectations. What does that mean for an average expat? There are so many things you don’t know that you don’t know! At least until you discover that you don’t know. From paperwork to payments, school supplies to stool samples (seriously), there are so many areas you’ll really feel your intrinsic immigrant ignorance. The good news? As soon as you know that you don’t know, you can ask for help, and people will be more than happy to explain!
