Camino Primitivo - Stage 2 - Grado to Salas | 22.1 km | 26 Aug 2025

Stage 2 - We walked Grado to Salas which is 22.1km. Camino Primitivo is more challenging compared to other routes of Camino de Santiago. Because of that, not many people walk this route hence give us lot of 'me time'. Most of the time it's just us and nature and cows and horses. This route is challenging because it is lots of up and down the hills. Salas is a historic medieval town and municipality in the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain, a mountainous region in which coal-mining and agriculture are the principal industries. On the way, we passed Monastery of San Salvador. It's beautiful and it has hostel for pilgrims as well. Unfortunately, video camera is not allowed inside the church. In Salas, we stayed at Hotel Castillo Valdes.
