The trips scheduled for October 3–4 and October 17–18, 2026, on the Rübeland Railway — the steepest active railway line in Germany (excluding cog railways) — were intended to be the final runs for the steam locomotive 95 1027-2, known as the "Mountain Queen" (*Bergkönigin*). The 103-year-old locomotive’s operating permit was set to expire, and the funds required for a new major inspection were lacking. On the final day of the scheduled runs, it was fortunately announced that the state of Saxony-Anhalt would provide 140,000 euros for an inspection of the locomotive's running gear, ensuring that it can remain in steam-powered operation for at least another three years.
