Today we're taking one of my favorite color combinations in Magic: The Gathering and playing it in a completely different way. Welcome back to more MTG Arena gameplay, and today we're returning to Golgari Control for some Standard BO1 games. Golgari — the Black-Green color combination — is usually associated with creature strategies and powerful synergies, but this time we're taking a more controlling approach. Instead of overwhelming our opponent with creatures, we're going to disrupt their hand, remove their threats, generate card advantage, and slowly grind them down. 🖤 Hand Disruption We're starting with cards like Duress and Cruelclaw's Heist to check our opponent's hand and remove important threats before they can cause problems. Knowing what's in our opponent's hand also gives us valuable information about how we should approach the rest of the game. 💀 Removal & Board Control Once our opponent gets something onto the battlefield, we have plenty of ways to deal with it. Shoot the Sheriff gives us efficient creature removal, while Maelstrom Pulse gives us a flexible answer to problematic permanents. The goal is to keep the battlefield under control while we build toward our late-game threats. 📚 Generating Card Advantage For card advantage, we have Unholy Annex, which helps keep our hand full while also becoming an important part of our win condition. We're also running Together as One, giving us another way to generate cards while dealing damage and maintaining pressure. 🌑 Our Win Conditions Our main game plan revolves around turning our control tools into a steady source of damage. Unholy Annex + Firdoc Core can generate recurring damage to our opponent every turn, allowing us to win the game while continuing to control the board. We also have Professor Dellian Fel, which can deal damage whenever we gain life. This works particularly well with Unholy Annex, giving us another way to convert our life-gain effects into damage. And finally, Ugin gives us a powerful late-game threat that can exile problematic cards from the battlefield while also gaining us life — once again giving us synergy with Dellian Fel. So can this Golgari Control deck keep up with the current MTG Arena Standard meta? Can we survive long enough to assemble our win conditions and grind our opponents out? 🌿 Let's jump into the games and find out! ‪@AspiringTrainer‬ ________________________________________ 💬 Let me know in the comments: • What do you think of Golgari Control? • Do you prefer Golgari as a control deck or creature-based strategy? • What cards would you add to this deck? • What MTG Arena Standard deck should I play next? 👍 If you enjoy MTG Arena gameplay, Golgari Control, Standard BO1, Black-Green decks, control decks, and Magic: The Gathering, don't forget to LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and turn on notifications for more! #MTGArena #Golgari #Standard #MTGGameplay
