Abandoned - Kamelot (Guitar cover)

🤘 Metal Monday is back, and today we're returning to one of my top-tier bands, the symphonic metal powerhouse Kamelot, with their hauntingly beautiful song "Abandoned." Now, "Abandoned" isn't exactly what you'd call a traditional metal song. In fact, there's very little guitar in the original at all. That's actually one of the things I found so interesting about this song. I wanted to put my own spin on it, so I wrote the acoustic guitar parts at the beginning to fit around the piano and help bring the song to life in a slightly different way. I absolutely love this song. There's something beautiful and haunting about it that has always grabbed me, and it's one of those Kamelot songs that really stands out to me, even though most people probably haven't heard it. And there's another little twist to this one: I'm pulling this video out of the archives! I actually recorded this almost a year and a half ago, and it's been sitting there waiting to be released ever since. For whatever reason, I kept putting it off, but I finally decided that this is the week to dust it off and let it out into the world. Sometimes the old recordings just need their turn. I hope you enjoy my take on "Abandoned." It's definitely a little different from the usual Metal Monday fare, but that's part of what makes this one special to me.
