9. The Other 30%: Restoring Degraded Nature Speakers: Stuart Blanch, WWF; Glenn Morris, Inverell farmer; Tam Connor, Mulloon Institute Alongside protecting 30% of land and sea, the Global Biodiversity Framework calls for at least 30% of degraded ecosystems to be under effective restoration by 2030. This webinar will explore what that goal means for NSW and how restoration can complement—but never replace—the protection of intact natural areas. It will consider how restoration can rebuild habitat, improve water security, reconnect fragmented landscapes and strengthen the resilience of working farms and regional communities. Practical examples will include landscape rehydration, riparian restoration, wildlife corridors, regenerative land management and partnerships between landholders, community organisations and government. The discussion will also consider what “effective restoration” means and how success should be measured over time.
