What would actually happen if the internet disappeared for 30 days?
Not just social media. Not just streaming. The entire public global internet.
In this thought experiment, we follow what happens from the first morning without a connection through Day 3, Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 and finally Day 30.
Some things keep working. Electricity doesn't automatically disappear. Cars still move. Hospitals don't simply close. But payments, offices, supply chains, communication and everyday coordination begin to work very differently.
And that's where the real problem appears.
The internet isn't just something we look at. It's an invisible coordination layer connecting millions of people, businesses and machines every day.
So how long could modern life keep functioning if that coordination suddenly became painfully slow?
Subscribe to Strange Defaults TV for more thought experiments about everyday systems, human behavior and the strange things we normally take for granted.
What would be the hardest part of 30 days without the internet for you?
