Western NC Afternoon Thunderstorm | 09/20/26 | Pisgah Forest, NC

Timestamps are below! Another day of thunderstorms in Transylvania county. There were no severe weather risks for this day. Many of the storms that formed in North Carolina were in the mountains. These storms contained frequent lightning, but downburst winds and hail were not likely in any of them. This particular storm was on the windier side, and contained some close and vivid lightning strikes at the beginning. The storm started around the Blue Ridge Parkway up in the forest and moved toward the area, but stalled before it fully got to my location and dissipated. What we saw was the outskirts of it, as well as the formation of other rain cells and thunderstorms surrounding us. Another cell formed ahead of this one in the Cedar Mountain area, and was producing very intense lightning. I once again filmed this at the Forest Gate Shopping Center in Pisgah Forest, and I believe this is the 3rd video I have filmed here, with many unaccounted for times this area has also been hit this year when I wasn’t around. Comes to show how frequently this area sees bad weather. We only have a couple days left in the storm season before they go away for the year.
