Tonight we follow one Norse family on one farm above a fjord in western Norway, across a single lifetime, from about 925 to 995. A calm, slow history for sleep: the longhouse and the people under its roof, a birth and a name, childhood and fosterage, summer pastures and the loom, a marriage between two farms, a trip to the market at Kaupang, the local assembly and its law of compensation, family land, and a low mound beside the field.
I never turn on mid-roll ads. You don't need to remember anything. If you drift off before the summer pastures, the farm will keep turning without you.
