Biblical stories, portraits and scenes of everyday life reveal how artists used light, colour and gestures to convey emotion. 🖼️ Paintings in this video ① Christ on the Mount of Olives Jesus kneels in prayer before his arrest, while angels appear above and his disciples sleep nearby. The contrast between light and darkness conveys sorrow and acceptance. The chalice refers to the suffering he is about to face. ② St. Catherine of Siena — Giambattista Tiepolo Wearing a crown of thorns, Catherine looks upwards with her hands crossed over her chest.
