In 1921, the richest Black community in America was wiped off the map in less than 24 hours.
This is the story of Black Wall Street — the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma — where Black families built their own banks, hotels, theaters and more than 600 businesses, in a district so wealthy it became a target. Then on May 31, 1921, it was burned to the ground.
In this animated history documentary we trace how Greenwood got so rich, what actually sparked the violence, the 24 hours that destroyed it, and the silence that kept it out of American history books for generations.
