I longed for the music of a mountain river, so at 6:00 AM I quietly drove towards Barot. The morning began with a simple breakfast near Jogindernagar, followed by a cup of tea with my friend Prem Thakur at his newly opened New Punjabi Rasoi in Kufardhar. Though Barot was no stranger to me, its beauty never grows old. The emerald Uhl River, majestic deodar forests, the tranquil lake and the crisp mountain breeze welcomed me like an old friend. I wandered through The Fountain, Zero Point, The Barrage and Lambadug Bridge, spending an unhurried day beside the river. As darkness settled, I took a peaceful walk along the Uhl before slipping into my “Chalta Firta Ghar”, parked beside the Fountain.
