12th June, 2022, Sunday…Day (4) Barot-Lapas Waterfall-Barot (21 km).
Road Trip to Barot Valley, Day (4)…Barot-Lapas Waterfall-Barot.
Another early morning in Barot.
After my morning walk and two cups of tea with buns from Harry, I drove towards Boching and turned onto a rough three-kilometre track leading to Lapas village.
From the village, a one-kilometre walk through potato fields, rustic homes and cool mountain breezes brought me to Lapas Waterfall.
It was a busy Sunday. There were camps, little restaurants and chairs placed right inside the flowing stream. The waterfall was crowded, yet its music seemed to rise above all the laughter and chatter.
I spent a few beautiful hours there—shooting videos, chatting with strangers, sipping tea and enjoying hot Maggi in the cool, wet breeze.
I couldn’t resist exploring further upstream.
There, hidden above the waterfall, was a beautiful icy pool. Four young boys from Sukabag near Chauntra were having a bath.
Watching them, I forgot the cold.
I joined them.
The icy water took my breath away, but the joy of that unexpected mountain bath was unforgettable.
Back in Barot, I climbed the steps to the newly built Dev Pashakot Temple, then wandered through the Sunday bustle around the Fountain.
By evening, I walked beside the Uhl, listening to the river whisper through the valley.
Dinner done, I slipped into Lalpari.
For the third night, my little Ford Figo became my home, parked beside the Uhl.
No room, no reservation, no walls—
just a car, a river and a mountain night.
And perhaps, that was exactly where I wanted to be.
