In this lesson, you will learn the Sarpavadivu, or Snake posture, one of the eight foundational animal postures in Kalarippayattu. Nikhil will guide you through the proper alignment, weight distribution, and mental focus required to embody the flexibility, precision, and cunning of a snake.
The lesson will begin with a review of the concept of Ashtavadivugal and an introduction to the significance of the Snake posture in Kalarippayattu. You will learn about the physical and mental characteristics of a snake, such as its sinuous movements, lightning-fast strikes, and ability to adapt to various situations.
Nikhil will then demonstrate the Sarpavadivu posture, breaking it down into step-by-step instructions for you to follow along.
By the end of the lesson, you will have gained a solid understanding of the Sarpavadivu in Kalarippayattu. You will have developed a stronger sense of flexibility, precision, and cunning, as well as an appreciation for the unique qualities of the snake that can be embodied through this practice.
