Room for Three is a complete Bob & Otto children's book read-aloud for ages 4–8 about inclusion, new friendships and the fear of being left out. Bob sees Otto spending time with Anna, the new girl at school, and believes he has been replaced. Otto has actually spent the morning telling Anna about Bob. He wants them all to play together: two children can turn the jump rope while a third jumps. For teachers, pedagogues and school counselors, the story makes theory of mind tangible: people can hold different beliefs because they have different information. Bob sees a pair and assumes there is no place for him. Otto sees a game that needs three, but has not made that invitation clear. Children can compare the two friends' knowledge, explore jealousy and belonging, and consider how to make inclusion explicit. The rope gives them something concrete to discuss: the space Bob thinks is missing is the place Otto has in mind for him. Parents and caregivers can explore the same ideas at home. Questions for discussion: What does Bob believe, and what does Otto know that Bob does not? What could Bob ask before walking away? How could the friends make room for each other? Book-specific psychology and discussion guide: https://bobandotto.com/books/room-for-three/ Read forward for Bob's perspective, then back the other way for Otto's. Reversing the order of the same lines reveals another meaning. Both boys have something to discover. Book written and illustrated entirely by Jesper K. Lassen, known professionally as The Danish Mentalist. AI narration using the Dany Ella voice in ElevenLabs. Published by VEN Method.
