What if I told you one conversation could improve patient experience, strengthen caregiver engagement, identify safety risks, and build trust, in no time flat. That's the power of leader rounding. Leader rounding isn't about checking a box. It's about creating connection. And connection is one of the greatest accelerators of culture, quality, and performance. One of the most important things we do as leaders is show up. Not just in meetings... Not just when something goes wrong... But consistently, in the places where care happens every single day. Leader rounding is one of the simplest, yet most impactful leadership practices we have because it allows us to connect with our caregivers, our patients, and our purpose. What Great Leader Rounding Looks Like Great leader rounding is intentional. It's listening more than talking. It's asking thoughtful questions instead of making assumptions. It's recognizing great work in real time. It's identifying barriers before they become bigger problems. And it's following through on what you hear. Remember, people don't expect us to have every answer. They do expect us to listen, care, and act. When leaders round consistently, everyone benefits. Our caregivers feel valued, supported, and connected. Our patients feel seen, heard, and cared for. Safety concerns are identified earlier. Small issues are resolved before they become larger ones. And perhaps most importantly... Leader rounding reminds our teams that leadership is present—not distant. Connection builds trust. Trust builds engagement. And engaged teams deliver exceptional care. Action Tips Here are a few simple ways to make every round meaningful: • Introduce yourself and explain your role. • Ask open-ended questions and truly listen. • Recognize someone doing great work. • Remove one barrier whenever possible. • Close the loop…if you commit to something, follow up. Remember... The goal isn't to see more people. The goal is to make every interaction matter. Leadership isn't measured by how often we're in our offices. It's measured by how often we're present where care happens. Every round is an opportunity to strengthen a relationship... Build trust... Improve the experience... And remind our caregivers they are seen, valued, and never walking this journey alone. So get out there. Be intentional. Stay connected. And remember... Every conversation is an opportunity to lead and make positive impact. Again…thank you for everything you do EVERYDAY!
