Honorable Byamukama Inspects Road works on Kisubi-Nakawuka-Nateete

Honorable Fred Byamukama concluded an inspection of the 72.5km Road Project, which comprises Nakawuka-Nateete, Nakawuka-Kasanje-Mpigi, Nakawuka-Mawagulunanzi-Junea, Kasanje- Buwaya and Entebbe-Nakiwogo road links. The inspection identified land acquisition and compensation as major challenges affecting project implementation, with serious concerns over inflated land and property valuations, questionable structures and suspected fictitious graves created to attract higher compensation. Two Ministry officials linked to the land acquisition process have been arrested, while investigations continue with support from the State House Anti-Corruption Unit. The Ministry has also directed a review of sections of the road alignment where feasible to minimise unnecessary compensation costs, while emphasizing its commitment to protecting public funds, accountability and timely delivery of the project.
