Custom Apps: Powering the Next Generation of SitecoreAI Extensibility | SUGCON India 2026

In SitecoreAI and cloud-native delivery, traditional extension points are intentionally restricted. That keeps the platform secure, scalable and safe to upgrade. So how do you extend Sitecore now? With Marketplace Custom Apps, a standardised, composable and cloud-first approach. In this SUGCON India 2026 session, Jaya Jha and Jeel Maheshwari show how Marketplace Custom Apps let teams add custom functionality directly to the Unified Cloud Portal. This ranges from lightweight UI enhancements to AI-driven and agentic workflows, all without modifying Sitecore core code. What you'll learn: 🔹 How the Marketplace fits into Sitecore's AI-first, cloud-native strategy 🔹 Setting up and working with the Marketplace SDK 🔹 Using AI Skills APIs within Marketplace Custom Apps 🔹 Choosing the right extensibility surface for your use case: – Cloud Portal Apps – Full-Screen Apps (SitecoreAI – Portfolio / Sites) – Pages Context Panel Apps – Custom Fields in Pages – Dashboard Widgets This is a practical, end-to-end guide to building production-ready Marketplace Custom Apps that are secure, maintainable and fully aligned with SitecoreAI architecture.
