Rafflesia can produce one of the most astonishing flowers on Earth—yet for most of its life, there is almost no plant to see. It survives as reduced tissue hidden inside a living Tetrastigma vine, then briefly erupts into the forest as a flower.
This film follows Indonesian conservationist Septian “Deki” Andriki’s thirteen-year search for Rafflesia hasseltii and explores the biology behind its hidden life: extreme parasitism, host dependence, carrion-fly pollination, the mystery of seed establishment, and why protecting the flower means protecting an entire network of vines, rainforest and local knowledge.
