And so it begins: the first maze of Ice & Fire, the Cosmoport. As you can see the game is divided into 2 different cycles: flying around the asteroid, and walking through the facilities, both equally maze-like.
Note that the location of the Cosmoport is at where the Power Station is on the demo from the Games for Windows 95 Sampler CD, and does not match the level I'm playing here. In the final game the Power Station level is elsewhere, you will see soon enough.
Note that on each level, near the end I will tend to stop at the message board for a moment to show you the level password. Passwords allow you to start at any maze later on.
To dive a bit deeper into the game itself, you basically have 2 types of weapons: a fire bolt and an ice bolt. Fire bolt increases the temperature of the target while the ice one lowers it. Each hit adds up to the temperature. This means that a target can be frozen or destroyed with enough hits.
On the maze itself, you find pieces of ice all over the place, and with the fire bolt you can melt them. You can find Spherids, human soldiers workers, items, and fireballs or iceballs. These latter 2 usually a very unpleasent surprise.
Pay attention to the status message at the top when releasing humans. You'll notice that the ones with a transportation thingie just disapear in the distance, and that's how it works. Those activate different things on the place you can use. Soldiers on the other hand are very useful (if they are around obviously). They can freeze spherids and unfreeze you for free. Otherwise if you get frozen, you'll have to spend some energy to unfreeze yourself, and you can do this a limited number of times.
This first level is somewhat tedious, if you don't see me dodging things like a pro, it's because controls in this game are not very practical. Control + Forward is basically jump, so you can imagine.
