This morning I stood in front of Hive 5 for almost half an hour with a folded newspaper in my hand and couldn't commit. The colony isn't dying. It isn't in crisis. But it isn't thriving either — reduced population, aging queen in her third year, inconsistent brood pattern through June. And July is running out.
