A Love Song from Tolu to Her Darling Ben [Verse 1] My darling Ben, I have never seen anyone as bold as you. And after all these years, all the people I have met, **I still haven't found anyone like you.** You only cared about pleasing God. Once you knew what He wanted, that was enough. People could understand you or misunderstand you. You would still go. [Pre-Chorus] Sometimes I wondered how you could be so sure, so unafraid to stand alone. You didn't need to explain yourself until everybody understood. You didn't need permission to follow what was in your heart. There was a freedom in you, Ben, a freedom I rarely see— **people's opinions could not easily move you.** And the longer I lived beside you, the more I understood why. Your heart had already chosen its audience. *You wanted to please God.* And somehow, *that made you free.* [Chorus] **I still haven't met anyone like you.** You didn't borrow courage from the people around you. You didn't need a crowd behind you before you moved. If you believed God was leading you, darling, you went. Not because you knew everybody would understand, but because being understood was never the thing you were living for. *You wanted to please Him.* And I had the privilege of loving the man who lived that way. [Bridge] There was something almost frightening about your courage. You could believe something with your whole heart and walk towards it while everyone else was still deciding what they thought. You didn't keep turning around to see who was coming. You didn't need a crowd behind you. If it was you and God, *you could walk alone.* And darling, I had a front-row seat to that kind of man. I didn't always understand you. I didn't always agree with you. But underneath it all, *I admired you.* I really admired you. And I still do. I watched you choose God again and again.
