Polytunnel Changeover: From Summer to Winter Vegetables

The tomatoes, cucumbers and aubergines are still cropping beautifully, but it's time to clear them and make space for winter salads and greens, before the days become much darker and colder. I show you the changeover in my no dig polytunnel, from the final summer harvests and clearing the plants for compost, to getting the dry soil moist again before planting winter salads. We don't add any more compost because the soil had its annual application in April. We're planting lettuce, endive, mustards, rocket and more, which should give us five or six months of picking, through to next April. I also explain how we manage watering and frost protection through winter, and show you how I plant garlic between the salads to make the most of the space.
