Sbali Makoti

Vukani's life is in decline after he is fired from his security job following a tragic incident in which his co-worker is shot and killed. Overwhelmed by trauma, guilt, and the loss of his salary, Vukani begins to drink heavily to forget his sorrow. This leads to him, his wife, and their young daughter, Phinde, being evicted from the house they were renting for failing to pay the rent. With no place to go, his wife is forced to live with her mother-in-law. However, their arrival in this home brings great tension. The mother-in-law does not want and does not respect Vukani because of his unemployment, hardship, and inability to support his family. Problems continue when the mother-in-law tries to get a priest to cancel him, and his wife's brother (usbali) brings pressure and harsh jokes about Vukani's situation. Tensions grow at home due to suspicion, lack of respect, and financial stress, until it reaches a climax when Phinde is humiliated at school because his father is unemployed. In a state of despair and confusion, Vukani faces the final blow when his wife tells him bluntly that she is tired of suffering and has started dating someone else (a wealthy lawyer). Eventually, the marriage collapses, and Vukani is forced to pack up his belongings and leave his wife and child, facing a life of ignorance and the sorrow of being separated from his family.
