Have you ever lain awake at night with one terrible thought circling your mind: "Has Allah abandoned me?" If you have — Surah Ad-Duha was revealed for you.
In the early days of Makkah, the revelation suddenly stopped. Weeks of silence. And the mockers jeered: "His Lord has forsaken him. His Lord hates him." Then Allah answered — not with anger, but with the most tender surah in the Quran.
Surah Ad-Duha, chapter 93: "By the morning brightness — and by the night when it covers with darkness — your Lord has NOT forsaken you, and He does NOT hate you. And the Hereafter is better for you than the first. And your Lord is going to give you — and you will be satisfied."
Allah swears by the morning — the light that always returns after the darkest night — as if to say: just as surely as this dawn followed that night, My mercy follows your hardship. Then He gives the method for dark nights: count the mornings. "Did He not find you an orphan, and give you shelter? And He found you lost, and guided you? And He found you poor, and made you rich?"
And the surah turns comfort into command: do not oppress the orphan, do not repel the beggar — be the shelter you once needed. With its twin, Surah Ash-Sharh (94): "For indeed, with hardship comes ease. Indeed, with hardship comes ease."
Tonight, hear Ad-Duha as if it descended for you alone. The night has a morning. He has not abandoned you. 🤍
