Attukal Pongala | Festival of Women | Short Film | Virtual Bharat Story #21

Experience Attukal Pongala, one of Kerala’s most celebrated religious festivals, where millions of women gather at Attukal Bhagavathy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram to offer prayers to the goddess. Witness a powerful celebration of faith, devotion, and tradition as women light earthen hearths, chant sacred mantras, and prepare Pongala, a traditional offering made with rice and jaggery. This remarkable festival brings together women from across Kerala and beyond in a shared expression of spirituality and community. Through this film, Virtual Bharat captures the rituals, emotions, and cultural heritage of Attukal Pongala, offering a glimpse into the festival during the COVID-19 pandemic, when public gatherings were restricted. 🎬 A film by Bharatbala Part of Virtual Bharat — 1,000 Stories of India, documenting India’s people, landscapes, cultural heritage, and untold stories. ► Credits: Created by - Bharatbala Director - Goutham Soorya D.O.P. - Syamaprakash MS Soundtrack – Varkey Colorist – Abhijeet Deolekar Editor – Christy Sebastian Associate Director - Gopikrishnan S Kurup Asst D.O.P. - Shyam Subrahmoniam Drone Operator - Harikrishnan Post Production Team – Sayan Debnath, Yash Khaire Executive Producer – Lynette D’mello Voice Over - Devaki Rajendran Violin: Rithu Vysakh Produced by: Studio Virtual Bharat Post Production Studio: Open Mind Production House: Bharatbala Pictures Produced by: Studio Virtual Bharat ► For Studio Virtual Bharat: Head of Production: Lynette D’mello Studio Team: Sayan Debnath Vaishnavi Vasudevan Aparna Sharma Yash Khaire Prakash Bamne Kannan Rajaram Hariharan Murugesan Ghanshyam Patil ► Project Virtual Bharat: Hari Krishnan Jawahar Sharma Abhijeet Deolekar ► Featuring: Special Thanks Suresh Elamon Attukal Temple Trust Kerala Police Sooraj Santhosh Sayanora Philip Krishna Radhakrishnan Geetha Manjunath Manjunath Sukumaran Gouri Krishna Malavika VN Shanthi V Deepu S Romy Josen Xavier Trivandrum Hotel, Statue Sarwaa Cafe, Trivandrum Department of Health Subscribe & Follow Virtual Bharat on: ► Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCk6q... ► Instagram:   / virtualbharat   ► Facebook:   / virtualbharat   #attukalpongala #keralafestival #attukaltemple #goddessbhagavathy #indianculture #virtualbharat #bharatbala #documentary #shortfilm #1000storiesofindia Virtual Bharat is an immersive journey through 1,000 stories of India — documenting India’s rich culture, heritage, people, traditions, art, architecture, landscapes, and living history, one story at a time.
