The composition is in praise of Lord Shiva.
The gist of the composition—
Salutations to the lord of the Universe and the basis of the world. Grant me refuge and thy grace. The foremost among the gods and the sustainer of the world, a veritable form of bliss, an embodiment of Music, one who rids us all of our sins and confers happiness upon the true devotees of Lord Krishna.
Some things to note—
There is a less than two minutes delineation of the rAgam in the usual way, unlike in the first two rAgams, wherein the form of the rAgam is highlighted by the passages of musical notes.
The kriti is presented also with the usual enthusiasm but with a couple of interesting deviations in lyrics from the 1952 printed edition of Janaka Raga Kriti Manjari. In the pallavi ‘shankara’ is replaced by ‘dhIra’; and in the charaNam, in the last line ‘shankara’ replaces ‘mAmava’. That is, shankara appears twice in succession. The first as an attribute and the second as one of the names of Shiva.
An adorable crisp and interesting svara prastAram completes the rendition.
The key phrases that help to identify this rAgam are highlighted in the first 30 seconds.
Turn on the video and savour gAnamUrti.
